Most people agree on the importance of strong bones and muscles. But there is another network of tissue within the body—one just as vital for optimal physical performance—known as fascia.
The fascial network is a type of connective tissue that forms a continuous, three-dimensional web throughout the entire body. It wraps around bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and organs, creating an interconnected structural framework.
Fascia provides support and promotes effortless movement by allowing muscles to glide smoothly and by enhancing flexibility. This network also functions as a communication system between internal structures. And with better communication comes better support for the vital processes necessary for optimal health.
Hmmm…..Too bad we don’t have anything like that for our spiritual well-being.
But wait—we do. God’s Word.
It was January, 2003. Through a series of events, God got my attention. I surrendered to Him, once and for all. I began reading everything I could about God, faith, religion, and finally, the Bible itself.
While those painful events initiated my surrender, nothing has brought more profound transformation in my life than the Word of God. Without a doubt.
No one. No speaker. No preacher. No teacher.
Nothing. No book. No denomination. No theology. No seminar. No conference.
Hebrews 4: 12-13 (ESV)
For the Word of God is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
That sounds a little frightening—a sword piercing joints and marrow. Yet the effect is not injury or destruction. Instead, the Word brings wholeness. It makes our entire being more cohesive, drawing creation into communion with the Creator.
The Word—the very Breath of God—moves through the crevices of our spirit and soul, connecting our whole spiritual self like an endoskeleton. It is a web of wisdom that reaches every part of us, offering God’s whisper into our thoughts, our actions, our very being (Acts 17:28).
Like fascia in the body, the Word of God becomes part of us as we take it in. It wraps around our hearts and minds, shaping our thoughts and desires. The more we ingest, the stronger we grow in the things of the Spirit.
The Word of God—breathed out by God—penetrates where nothing else can reach. There is no place too hidden, no chain too strong, no binding it cannot break.
Paul wrote to Timothy:
1Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Without a doubt, the Word of God is responsible for the transformed person who writes this today. The Word teaches me and trains me in righteousness, something no one can do on their own. We need the Word.
So, while the events in my past sent me to my knees, it is the Word that sustains and transforms me as I seek to know and be known by Him.
